The Italian-Arab Friendship Association, through its Secretary General Franco Abdelkader Omeich, expressed deep regret "over the suspension of the investigation and the failure of suspects to appear before the competent judiciary, as the third anniversary of the Beirut Port explosion approaches on August 4." The association expressed solidarity with the victims and the wounded.
Omeich called on the Lebanese judiciary to "take action to deliver justice to the victims" and urged legislative authorities to "lift all immunities from suspects as required by law in most countries to ensure justice for the martyrs and those affected by the explosion."
Omeich also expressed hope that "Lebanon's complex crisis will find a solution worthy of the country's history and values, starting with the election of a president and the holding of continuous parliamentary sessions to complete the presidential election process in accordance with democratic principles and the Lebanese constitution."
