Rome - The President of the Italian-Arab Friendship Association, Franco Abdelkader Omeich, has called on UN Secretary-General António Guterres to "take action to classify the massacres occurring in the Gaza Strip as genocide."
In a letter addressed to Guterres, Omeich stated: "It is my honor and privilege to lead the Italian-Arab Friendship Association, which was founded in 1994 and is based in Rome. For 30 years, it has been at the forefront of promoting and spreading a culture of peace, coexistence, and cooperation. Through this letter, and on behalf of the Friendship Association, I respectfully request that the Secretary-General and the United Nations Security Council officially recognize what has happened and is happening in Gaza as 'genocide,' based on the overwhelming number of victims and the current conditions."
